This was my first order from Foods For Gut, and I'm impressed! I recently discovered the company; I had previously ordered custom formulas from Custom Probiotics. Nothing against that company, but Foods for Gut has a lot more species from which to select.
My dog developed pancreatitis, I believe due to dysbiosis in the small intestine. I suspect that often pancreatitis cases are caused by this, not necessarily fat in the diet. A blood test for folate deficiency can diagnose dysbiosis. My dog also had an abdominal ultrasound, which showed that only the small intestine was inflamed, not the pancreas or any other organs.
I had another dog several years ago with the same issue caused by an antibiotic, then cured by digestive enzymes, Prozyme, and a probiotic for dogs, which I purchased on Amazon. There was no change in the diet, which was a prey model raw one. This time I used the same digestive enzymes and this better custom formula, as well as a homeopathic remedy; again, no dietary change from prey model raw. My dog's symptoms resolved in two days.
A month later, at his recheck, his blood tests showed normal pancreatic lipase, normal liver enzymes, and a doubled folate level. I will likely continue to give this probiotic formula to him for life, especially since he is small and takes just a few sprinkles of it once a day.
My husband and I just started taking it as well; four thumbs up for improved digestion in a few days!
I chose ten species known to ameliorate dysbiosis: all six Bifidobacterium species offered, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus coagulans, Saccharomyces Boulardii, and Akkermansia Muciniphila.
The shipment arrived in a couple of days and was cold during hot summer weather. The inclusion of the small metal spoons was a plus.
One suggestion I have is to add the strain number to each of the species they offer.
Thank you, Foods for Gut!
